ISB (Islamic Society of Baltimore) has had funeral arrangements for years. Now they have a standby team of Muslim volunteers (both males & females) who prepare the body for burial. As to provide this service, the ISB team will arrange the following:

• Following initial contact from the family with brother Marafani, he will collect needed information, after which will contact the March Funeral home (in Baltimore city) to arrange for picking up the body.
• March Funeral home is a certified agency that the ISB has been dealing with for this matter for years and are aware of Islamic regulations related to preparing the body for burial, and will issue a death certificate.
• The funeral home will arrange to pick up the body from hospital to the funeral home where the Muslim team of volunteer will wash and shroud the body.
• Brothers will prepare diseased males, and sisters will prepare the diseased females.
• Brother Marafani can arrange for purchasing the shrouding material or the family can provide that.
• Once the body is ready fro burial, the funeral home will transport the body to the mosque for Janazah prayers, after which they will transport it to the cemetery.
• Total cost is $4000. This cost covers standard services includes preparing the body, transportation, land, opening & closing cost, cascade, and using the March Funeral home facility.
• The process from beginning to end takes roughly about 8 hours. For someone who passes away in the early morning, chances that he/she will be buried before cemetery closes at 6:00 PM. For those who pass away mid day, chances that burial will take place next day at Zohor or Asr prayers.
• The funeral home can arrange for overseas shipping of the body at an extra cost.
• ISB members receive a discount for the service.
• Burial take place at King Memorial cemetery in Baltimore, or with prior arrangements (and possibly extra cost) burial can be arranged at a different cemetery.

• Remember that what matters for a diseased brother or sister is summarized in the prophet's hadith "Once the son of Adam dies, all his/her actions come to an end except for three deeds that would provide continuous reward: a pious son/daughter who will provide supplication for him (asking Allah to forgive him/her); a charity that is paid on his/her behalf; and beneficial knowledge that he/she has left behind (lecture, book, halaqa, etc)".
